A local activist and a young budding mayor clash over the best path to take for their impoverished suburb. The original French title of the project was supposed to be “Les Indésirables” before being changed. In this second film from the director of LES MISERABLES, made in 2019, we still have Alexis Manenti and Steve Tchientcheu, but not in the same roles. From a policeman, Manenti becomes mayor and Tchientcheu from a local boss also an important member of the town hall… This is not a crime drama, but just a social drama, just remove the criminal element. It is just an accusation against real facts, a real tragedy. Not everyone will agree with the message of this film. The government’s migrant strategy is at the heart of this story. If you want to escape from your problems, if you want to dream, hope for the future, this film is not for you. But if you are brave enough to open your eyes to the true and ugly face of the modern world, of modern society, this film is the best opportunity for you. A very painful, touching, disturbing ending. Unforgettable.
