This animated anthology series features original stories set in the worlds of iconic video games. Video games have made a huge leap to the screen, and we’re celebrating the genre with a closer look at over 50 video game adaptations and shows. Clive Standen reprises his voice role as Demetrius Titus, the main character of the video game Space Marine 2.
The list of titles is mind-boggling
Aside from a few cool cameos, Secret Level feels like a monument to mediocrity. The writing is painfully half-hearted, dragging the show down the entire time, despite the undeniably impressive visuals, though even those feel like reheated leftovers from a decade of top-notch video game cinema. Honestly, what is this show trying to do or say that video game marketing hasn’t done (and better) in the past 10+ years?
Where are the big names?
The lack of heavy hitters screams one thing: the creators either didn’t want any part of this train wreck or were waiting to see if Season 1 could hold its ground. The short story seems to completely ignore the creators. What should have been tense, impressive, and memorable feels disjointed and uninspired.

Variety called it an “uninspired slumber.” And for once, Variety wasn’t harsh enough. “Secret Level” is proof that flashy visuals can’t hide a lack of vision, heart, or originality! “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
