In the flashbacks, the family joins a space cult that promises salvation on Jupiter. As the past reveals their struggle, their teenage daughter must choose between following her parents into a cult or forging her own path on Earth. Remake of “Jupiter” (2019). “Jupiter” is a beautifully executed film that successfully absorbed us into the inner world of a teenage girl who faced not only the problems of insecurity, but also the trials of her disabled younger brother and the descent of her parents into madness. This is a dizzying landscape and space bordering on science fiction, even psychological horror. During the discussion after the film, I was struck that the first comment was about sympathy for parents. I had to counterpoint that in the madness and horror of the world, children are tragically and inexplicably ignored. I even noted that many adults cannot be helped anymore. The director insisted that they need to be reintegrated into a “good democratic society”, and even that they are not aware of their terrible deeds (they have good intentions). Nevertheless, his film feels like a preparation for the vulnerability of adults in a desperate situation, but also as an ode to the vulnerability of children. P.S. It received the YOUNG JURY award at the Sofia Film Festival as a film participating in the international competition.
