Miami, 1991. Christian Slater is older than James Remar was when Dexter first aired (2006). I’m a huge Dexter fan, through and through.
Dexter (seasons 1-8) is the only show I watch consistently
Like Harry (according to Dexter), change is not easy for me. So when Dexter: The New Blood came out, at first things changed, the cold, the absence of some beloved cast members, and the lack of humor and Latin music were huge disappointments for me. However, after seeing it as a standalone show (without comparing it to the original), it grew on me. Now, with this new show, of course, we’re not used to new faces in the cast.

We all remember that young Dexter, Deb, and Harry looked different, even Laura Moser. However, I think it might be unfair to judge the casting since we are not in the shoes of the casting directors and producers. I believe they had to consider a lot of aspects besides similar looks. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, James Remar, and the rest of the original cast could magically play younger versions of their own characters, but time only goes one way.
(Bonus: I really like Christian Slater
He’s amazing as always!) So far, I like it after watching the first episode twice. I think everyone did a decent job filling those big Dexter shoes. I actually can’t deny the fact that I’m now even more excited to watch Dexter: Resurrection after seeing Dexter being revived in the ER. In short, I think this show is great and will probably grow on me even more over time.
